Christmas Reading 12/9/11

Today's reading is taken from Isaiah 9: 2 - 7. This prophecy points to Jesus from way back in history when Ahaz was the king and the Assyrian empire was threatening to take over Judah. With danger pressing in on all sides, it must have been a great comfort to the people to hear Isaiah's words...

The people walking in darkness
have seen a great light...
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given...
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace...

Even when the odds are stacked against us, and there seems to be no hope, we can hold onto God's promises that we do not face anything alone. He is right beside us every step of the way. Jesus longs to reign as the Prince of Peace in our hearts and lives. With him in our lives, we never have to lose hope!

Thank you, God that "the zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this."

Amen!
