Today's reading foretells the birth of Jesus. It is found in Luke 1: 26 - 56.
I don't know about you, but my heart always beats a bit faster when I get to this part of the Christmas story. I've often wondered what it would have been like to be Mary and have an angel of the Lord give you unbelievable news...would I have been as humble and submitted to the Lord's will?
The reason these Bible readings still thrill us today is that they are our story. These are the stories that our children will grow up reading and knowing and then pass on to their children. God's word is so awesome!
